You have total control over your comfort. You can leave the light on. You can leave the door to the float pod open, and you can exit the room whenever you like.
All amenities, including basic hair products, body wash, towels, robes, and hair dryers, are provided. If you require a hair brush or specific hair or body products, please bring your own.
A bathing suit is also totally optional – most people float nude as all rooms are private and you float solo.
Some people do fall asleep safely in the relaxing world of a float pod. Because of the high salt content, you will float whether you’re awake or asleep. You float on your back, and your nose and mouth are always well above the water line.
We recommend waiting at least one week to let your colour fully set. We don’t want the salt affecting the colour, or your colour bleeding into the water. If the colour is not rinsing out when you shower, it’s usually fine to float.
What To Expect: Your First Time In A Float Therapy
A Step-by-Step Guide to Float Therapy Session.
Before Your Float Session
- Arrival Time: Arrive 10 - 15 minutes prior to your appointment time.
- A Float video and tour: An arrival you can watch a short video on the float experience (first timers only!). A tour of the float room & facilities is also advisable. Our staff can answer your questions, address any concerns, and explain the float tank environment.
- Preparation: Avoid shaving on the day of your float, as the salt solution can irritate any nicks. Opt for a light, healthy meal beforehand to avoid feeling uncomfortable while floating. Remove any contact lenses or jewelry - these can be left at home or stored in your private lockable room for safety.
- Hydration: Drink plenty of water throughout the day before your float to ensure proper hydration.
During Your Float Session
- The Environment: The float tank is a soundproof, lightproof pod filled with a shallow pool of water saturated with Epsom salts. The water temperature is typically close to skin temperature, creating a sense of ease.
- Getting Comfortable: You'll have complete control over the lighting and music (if desired) inside the tank. Take a moment to shower with provided body wash and shampoo and rinse thoroughly before entering the tank. Once inside, lie down comfortably and allow yourself to relax.
- The Experience: Many people experience a deep state of relaxation during float therapy. Floatation can reduce muscle tension, improve focus, and promote feelings of peacefulness. You may fall asleep or experience periods of light sleep. If any discomfort arises, simply adjust your position or signal the staff using the call button.
- The Duration: Float Therapy sessions typically last for 60 or 90 minutes.
After Your Float Session
- Gradual Re-entry: Take a moment to adjust to the lights and sounds of the environment after exiting the tank. The center will provide towels and amenities for rinsing off the salt solution. You can then proceed to our chill lounge to enjoy a cup of tea or glass of water and before continuing on with your day.
- Hydrate and Relax: Continue drinking plenty of water after your float. Allow yourself time to unwind and enjoy the lingering effects of relaxation.
- The Benefits: Float therapy may offer various benefits like reduced stress, improved sleep quality, pain management, and enhanced creativity. While some may experience immediate effects, the full benefits often become more noticeable with consistent sessions.

The team at Lokahi (specifically Holly, Julia & Kerrie) were so great words can't even explain. I went in so sick due to an anaesthesia reaction & they made me feel so comfortable & looked after. They have a beautiful relaxation/waiting area which they don't rush you out of post treatment so you can sit, have a tea and wait until you feel ready to go.
